East Coast Research Leadership Talk: Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM)

Featuring Luke Hampson, Managing Director | Interviewed by Gia Le, ECR

In this engaging leadership discussion, Nimy Resources’ Managing Director Luke Hampson shares key insights into the company’s gallium and copper exploration strategy, recent milestones, and the broader significance of their discovery at the Mons Project in WA.

Luke begins with an overview of Nimy’s journey—from acquiring the initial land in 2015 to listing in late 2021. The company now holds over 3,004 km² of tenements across a previously unmapped greenstone belt, believed to be the first new belt defined in over 20 years in Western Australia. This region, roughly the size of the Kalgoorlie-to-Kambalda corridor, hosts multiple emerging critical mineral discoveries.

A central theme of the interview is Block 3, home to Nimy’s high-grade gallium discovery, which Hampson calls a “first mover” opportunity. Gallium—an under-the-radar critical metal essential for semiconductors, defense tech, and clean energy—has become a strategic asset amid global supply concerns. With China controlling 98% and Russia 1% of supply, Nimy’s discovery holds major implications for Western supply chain resilience.

Early drilling at Block 3 returned standout intercepts including 72m @ 117g/t including 1m @ 495g/t gallium, prompting Nimy to fast-track exploration. The company has now completed an expanded drill campaign—25 holes, with 18 hitting >100g/t gallium—and is finalising a maiden JORC-compliant resource in partnership with CSIRO and Curtin University. Metallurgical studies are underway to determine commercial extraction potential.

Beyond gallium, the conversation highlights the emerging copper story. Nimy has made multiple discoveries, notably at copper Masson and the recently discovered the Sneaky Squirrel Gossan Prospect.

Sneaky Squirrel Gossan Prospect returning copper-zinc sulphides and favourable geochemistry comparable to Golden Grove. Magnetic anomalies in these areas suggest strong potential for deeper massive sulphides.

Nimy’s strategic ambitions extend internationally, having recently partnered with NYSE-listed M2i Global to position the company within U.S. government funding frameworks. This includes applications with the DoD, DoE, and EXIM Bank—an effort that aligns Nimy with broader U.S. critical mineral policy goals.

Looking ahead, Hampson outlines several upcoming milestones:

  • Q3 2025: Maiden JORC Resource for gallium at Block 3
  • New gallium exploration targets
  • Metallurgy and processing progress
  • Magnetic surveys across Masson, Sneaky Squirrel, and Block 3
  • Advancing copper-gallium integration into strategic markets

In closing, Luke emphasises the company’s disciplined approach: staying focused on gallium and copper, rather than chasing trending commodities, and leveraging deep technical collaboration to unlock long-term value from the Mons Project.
